RECOGNIZE PARENTAL ALIENATION AS VIOLENCE AND ABUSE AGAINST CHILDREN
Due to Parental Alienation, all over the world, millions of children are displaced from their home, parents, grandparents and family.
There are numerous publications of studies, research and parents' narratives detailing the dire consequences of PARENTAL ALIENATION to children, targeted parents and society. The mental and psychological injuries inflicted on children and parents tend to be irreversible, may last years or a life time.
The Committee on the Rights of The Child will meet from September 14th to October 9th, 2015 which offers the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon an opportunity to present this petition to amend the Convention on the Rights of the Child in accord with Article 50.
We the undersigned are requesting Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to urgently add PARENTAL ALIENATION to the Agenda of the 70th session of the Committee on the Right of the Child to:
1. Recognize PARENTAL ALIENATION as violence and abuse against children
2. Enforce Article 18. "... both parents have common responsibilities for the upbringing and development of the child "
3. Eliminate all ambiguities from the Convention on the Rights of the Child to clearly and without any doubt state that, equal relationship between the child and both of his or her biological mother and father is "The Best Interest of the Child".
In order to prohibit, prevent and protect children from abuse, violence and PARENTAL ALIENATION perpetrated by unscrupulous alienating parents, judicial systems, civil society and child protection agencies, the example of Brazil and Mexico must be followed by all United Nations Member States and agencies.
The President of Brazil signed on August 26, 2010 Law 12 318/10, which defines and punishes PARENTAL ALIENATION.
The President of Mexico signed the Law on May 9, 2014, Civil Code, Capitulo III, Article 323 Septimus. It defines and punishes PARENTAL ALIENATION as Violence against the Family.
Sincerely,
